Shinji Kagawa believes his Manchester United form shouldn’t be compared with the midfielder’s performances for Japan.

The 24-year-old endured a mixed first season in the Premier League as he was limited to just 20 top-flight appearances, scoring six goals.
Kagawa, who joined the Red Devils in a £17m deal from Borussia Dortmund last summer, featured in Japan’s 3-0 loss to Brazil in their opening Confederations Cup group match.
The United midfielder, who did end the season in impressive fashion for United, has struggled for his country in recent weeks – but Kagawa insists that there is a difference between playing for his club and country.
“Playing for club and country are two very different things and you shouldn’t always compare them,” Kagawa told reporters ahead of Japan’s next match in Brazil.
Kagawa’s Japan face Italy in a must-win game in Group A on Wednesday night, and the Red Devils midfielder hopes to improve his performance levels after a disappointing display in the Brazil loss.
“We have to get ourselves in order and play as a team tomorrow,” Kagawa added.
“As for myself, I want to be aware of what I didn’t demonstrate [against Brazil] and bring that to the pitch.”
Kagawa has scored 13 goals in 44 appearances for Japan since making his debut against Ivory Coast in 2008.
