Transfer News Today: Arsenal to pair Rooney with Higuain?

Forum chatter
Poor old Victor Wanyama. The Celtic midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United last season, but it seems that the Premier League champions aren’t the current front-runners for his signature.
Instead, it’s rumoured that Cardiff and Southampton are the two sides battling to bring the Kenyan down south. Suddenly another year in Scotland and a Champions League campaign sounds very tempting.
Tabloid rumours
Arsenal are rumoured to have agreed terms with Gonzalo Higuain and it seems as if their spending will not stop there.
Like a recovering alcoholic who decides to have one last drink and then goes completely off the rails, the Gunners just can’t stop spending after years of abstinence. Wayne Rooney is said to be the £20m target, as Arsenal look to blend a deadly cocktail up front.
Come and get me
If there’s one thing that Liverpool fans get tetchy about, it’s the idea that they are no longer a major force, so we assume that the following quote from Pepe Reina won’t got down well with the Anfield faithful.
“I’m very happy and satisfied at Liverpool. But of course if I’m given the chance to improve and go to a bigger club, and now there are a few bigger than Liverpool, I’m sure the club would understand.”
Ouch. Considering that Liverpool are supposedly close to a deal to bring in Simon Mingolet, expect a bigger club (specifically Barcelona) to come calling for Reina this summer.
In talks
Manchester City are rumoured to be ready to tie up a deal to bring Isco to the Premier League within the next 48 hours.
Real Madrid were also said to be interested, but it seems as if they’ve been wasting so much time making come hither eyes towards Gareth Bale, that they’ve completely neglected to try and sign one of the outstanding talents on their own doorstep.
Signed, sealed and delivered
Antonio Luna joined Aston Villa from Sevilla yesterday, prompting a number of repetitive ‘over the moon’ based gags.
The left-back has represented Spain at youth level and spent some of last season on loan at Mallorca. It was almost certainly the prospect of learning from the great Alan Hutton again, that swung the deal in Villa’s favour.
