Manchester United and Chelsea could have their
pre-season plans wrecked by FIFA if the governing body decide to
sanction the Thailand FA (FAT).
New Old Trafford boss David Moyes’ first game in charge was set to be against the Singha All Stars XI in Bangkok on July 13.
Jose Mourinho is scheduled to lead Chelsea out against the same opposition just four days later, but both fixtures could be in danger due to a legal challenge by a fourth tier Thai club.
Pattaya FC successfully secured an injunction against FAT to halt a vote taking place this weekend to align their rules with FIFA regulations – something the world governing body took a dim view of.
FIFA have threatened to suspend FAT’s membership from any internationally sanctioned matches, which would include the friendlies involving Manchester United and Chelsea.
Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge officials may have to hastily put together a contingency plan if the games do not go ahead.
This is looking likely as Pattaya FC are refusing to drop the lawsuit against FAT, which is over the nee rules affecting voting on the new president.
