Arsenal set to confirm deal worth £50m and Manchester United star could sign next

Arsenal on verge of completing transfer record deal for Argentina international, and could add Manchester United star if their second largest investor has his way.

Arsenal are close to confirming a club record transfer for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain, who has reportedly agreed a contract that will make him the Gunners’ highest paid player, and the north London side could also make a move for Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
The Higuain deal could be worth up to a colossal £50 million, according to the Daily Mail, with £22m of that coming from the transfer fee, and the rest from wages and prospective bonuses based on both individual and team performance.
The only obstacle remaining before the signing is totally confirmed is that without a manager to sign off the deal, Real Madrid are not yet able to release the player.
Higuain would certainly be a useful signing for the Gunners – only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have scored more goals in La Liga than the Argentina international since 2007, and he’s also a fine finisher – as illustrated by the statistic from WhoScored below:
The Daily Mail also report that Arsenal could move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney this summer, with second largest shareholder Alisher Usmanov talking up the prospect of bringing the England international to Emirates Stadium.
“He is a great player and [joining Arsenal] would be great for Rooney, and Arsenal too,” said Usmanov.
Rooney, who is 27 years-old, is rumoured to be exiting Old Trafford after submitting a transfer request towards the end of the season.
No player has scored more goals for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson than Wayne Rooney, but given the reported animosity between the England ace and new boss David Moyes and, he may elect for a fresh start.
